Preparing Students for Success in Grammar & Private School Entrance Exams

Grammar school and private school education can open incredible opportunities for children, but securing a place requires strong preparation and the right guidance. At Know & Grow Tutors, we are dedicated to giving every child the best chance to succeed in their entrance exams.

We prepare students for both GL and CEM style exams, as well as independent school entrance assessments. While we are based in Trafford, our online lessons mean we welcome students from all across the UK.

We also believe in complete honesty with parents. Our tutors provide regular feedback, helping you understand your child’s progress, strengths, and areas that need improvement, so you can make informed decisions about their preparation.

When to Start

Year 4 – Laying the Foundations

Beginning preparation in Year 4 gives students a valuable head start. It allows us to build strong foundations in core subjects and gradually introduce 11+ style questions. This early start is ideal for children who may need extra support academically, ensuring they approach the exams with confidence rather than stress. Alongside exam readiness, Year 4 tuition also improves their performance at school.

Year 5 – Focused Preparation

In Year 5, the focus shifts to targeted preparation for the entrance exams. Students practise exam-style questions regularly, develop strong problem-solving techniques, and build the confidence needed to perform under timed conditions. This is the most common year to join, and we offer both small group lessons and one-to-one sessions tailored to your child’s needs.
